47 days after our forestay broke, Spacegrazer is again sea-worthy. We can safely say that this had been an experience with a lot of learning curves. Our most trying to date.
It takes a lot of lip-biting, having to be reliant on suppliers that are 3 steps from being in direct contact with us. Frustrating as it is when the wrong parts get delivered, or that deliveries are forgotten (meaning further delays and missing weather windows) there’s nothing you can do but suck it up and put it down as part of ‘the Liveaboard experience’.
A positive is that the riggers discovered a massive crack in the gooseneck and fabricated a bright shiny new one for us. We wouldn’t have known about this otherwise. It’s something you’d rather find before it breaks.
If the weather stays as forecast then we depart on Thursday morning for Gibraltar. Snow has fallen on the mountains here in Mallorca, meaning the weather has turned. Albeit it late, we will copy the birds and find warmer climes…
Wowsers an epic story, so relieved that it’s all done, time for some plain sailing xx
Good to see you’re on the move again. Think you’ll catch us up?
Glad it’s all fixed.Have a safe journey to GIb.
