Chilling and Train Rides

So we’ve been chilling out for the last few days. We had a couple of days of 20+ knot winds which kept our minds occupied on our anchoring, after we’d dragged on our second day. I had just finished writing an email and I looked up as we were drifting onto a nearby boat. In the moment, it was all quite tense. Fumbling to get the motor started, and inadvertently switching it off and on. The other boat was aware of it, and we were able to move off before any damage was done. A wake up call. After securing the anchor and checking, and rechecking it by reversing the boat with different bursts of increasing throttle, we put the anchor alarm on and kept vigilant.

Other than that, we are loving our spot here. Very picturesque and a lot more touristy than Sant Carles de la Rapita. Got to talking to a couple of other people on boats who gave me their ins-and-outs on liveaboard lifestyle, particularly living off the hook, which is an art form in itself. Topics varied from having an backup outboard, make sure the water pressure is turned off at night or when away from the boat, to a handy inflatable paddle board that I was sure was fiberglass – on the shopping list.
Today we took a quaint little train ride into Soller town itself, which is a little way from the beach. The kids loved it, just had to keep reminding them that they couldn’t stick their heads out the window. We walked around for a bit, got food for a picnic in the square by the church and basically watched the kids go crazy chasing pigeons and each other.
