Our third little road trip from New York city would take us to Bear Mountain. We liked the name, and it’s a nature reserve so we imagined ourselves really going into the wilderness.
We were pretty disappointed when we arrived to the queue for the car park… There was staff everywhere directing cars to available parking areas. It was like getting to a festival or theme park.
Once out of the car, we followed the herd along the path. Hungry and a bit shaken, we found a big rock next to a playground, where we unpacked our picnic. After the meal, we could laugh about it a little already. There were people everywhere. And they took their picnic seriously: most people were pushing carts full of food and drinks. The barbecue smoke was everywhere. We agreed that it was busier here than in Central Park.
After lunch we went for a little hike, hoping to get out of the crowds. The landscape is actually really lovely there. We strolled down to the bank of the Hudson, then hiked back up and walked a loop around a small lake. Then it was time to go back home, to the peace and quiet of Manhattan!
hahaha wat grappig, je denkt lekker rustig misschien kom ik nog een beren familie tegen. Jullie kwamen dus nog net niet op een grote camping aan. Jammer maar weer een ervaring rijker! De foto van Max en Beau zo leuk.
