Living the High Life in NYC – Walking the High Line

Living the High Life in NYC - and Walking the High Line

Today we took the subway to Penn Station and walked to the High Line for an elevated stroll along the west side of downtown Manhattan. The High Line is a walking track, built on a disused train track. Their website explains it much better:

The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. Saved from demolition by neighborhood residents and the City of New York, the High Line opened in 2009 as a hybrid public space where visitors experience nature, art, and design.

So there. We enjoyed strolling along the impressive buildings and fancy apartments. We also admired some cool artworks along the way. Unfortunately we missed the bit of the track that has the playground, so the kids were not happy with us. Ah well, you cannot win them all…

Having reached the end, we were starving. Max and I ate some tasty fish tacos in the Chelsea Food Market, which the kids did not like the look of. So we bought them hot dogs at our local food truck instead. Everyone happy, and three of us are in bed now. It was a good day.
