Epic Shopping and Sand Dunes

Epic Shopping and Sand Dunes

Shop shop

Today we rented a van together in Las Palmas with the Mrs. Chippy crew. We started the day with an epic shopping trip, starting at Lidl. We managed to load the van with about 5 trolley loads from Lidl, and 3 from our favourite Spanish supermarket Mercadona. They are not sponsoring this blog by the way! The reason for this outrageous consumerism is that we are stocking up the boat with food for the Atlantic crossing. Our plan is to cross from the Canaries to the Cape Verde islands in the first week of December, then on to Barbados after a few days of R&R on the Cape Verdes.

After an epic dinghy ride, with the dinghy full of food and me sitting on top it, Max helped me haul everything on board. With no time to store everything, we zoomed off again in the big white van. Time for some fun in the sand dunes near Maspalomas on the south of Gran Canaria!

Sand dunes

After we stuffed our collective 8 kids into the back of the van, we drove down to Maspalomas with our friends from Boag in a separate car. The sand dunes were awesome, all soft powdery sand. The kids had a blast rolling down the hills. Max had to upstage them though by doing cartwheels down the sand!

On he way home, we stopped at some more shops to get essentials like a swing and more swimwear. Carribean we are ready for you!
