Taking a Break from Boat Life – Week 1
The trip from Sicily to The Netherlands did not start very promising, with poor Beau feeling sick. He threw up a couple of times at the airport, and we were worried he would not be able to get on the flight. Luckily, he managed to board and fell asleep as soon as he had fastened his seat belt, only to wake up again when we landed at Schiphol airport… Phew!
During our first week here, we have already experienced the worst storm since 1906. We were safe and sound in our holiday home in the woods near the beach. We did hear the wind howl, saw the trees shake, and saw plenty of damage afterwards. Living on a boat, we are used to nature thwarting our plans. But being on land for a month, we had not anticipated having to cancel appointments with friends because it was too dangerous to drive!
